2009 Douai World Tournament preview

The 23rd edition of the Mondial Juniors de Basket will be played from the 10th to the 14th of June in Northern France. It is one of the last events before the NBA Draft and this year’s edition can be considered as one of the strongest preparation tournament for the Under 19 World Championship to be played in New Zealand in the beginning of July.

Rudy Mbemba is finally in the Draft

The Swedish guard Rudy Mbemba is in the NBA Draft, finally. After multiple seasons in different European teams, the 1m83 tall player is currently playing the Italian LegaDue Finals in order to earn a Lega spot for his team of Vanoli. I had the possibility to see several of his last games with the Italian team and check though if the multiple Reebok Eurocamp participant has a chance to hear his name called in the MSG soon.

Germany to host first ever U17 World Championship

This Friday, the FIBA Central Board has decided unanimously to give the organization of the 2010 U17 World Basketball Championship to Germany. The other candidates have been France, China and Kazakhstan. While China stepped back in order to show the German-Chinese friendship, France got the rights for the organization of the U17 Women World Championship in 2010.

NBBL Top4 2009: the Wendt-show was not enough (UPDATED with Videos)

This weekend, the German U19 NBBL League had its third edition of the Top4 played in Berlin. For the first time, the home team qualified for the event which made the Finals day particularly loud and enthusiastic. However, the overall level of the tournament, except for the final was not very high, which may be explained by the absence of the top prospects of the German 90 generation because of injuries or defeats in the playoffs.
