Today, we got the official list of players that will represent Europe at the Jordan Brand Classic in New York. 40 players from all over Europe competed in Vilnius on the 7th and 8th March and only 10 of them have been selected by the organization to fly over to New York City and compete in the Jordan Brand Classic.

French U19 test game

The French U19 National Team started its preparation for the U19 World Championships in New Zealand. During this first phase in February, NT coach Richard Billant tested some new players but the care is based on the 4th place U18 team from last summer around Andrew Albicy and Alexis Tanghe.
NBBL Playoffs started this weekend

The German U19 NBBL playoffs started this weekend with some interesting match-ups. Europeanprospects was present in Trier to cover the game between TBB Junior Team around Maik Zirbes and Basket College Rhein Neckar. Additionally, two Top4 participants of last year challenged each other already in the first round.

Jordan Brand announced today that in conjunction with this year’s Jordan Brand Classic, it will host its third annual European trip with a basketball training camp in Vilnius, Lithuania from March 7-8 to identify the top regional basketball talent.

After the three qualification tournaments have been played, 6 of the 8 spots for the Nike International Junior Tournament are set. Besides FMP Zeleznik as defending champ, Kalise Gran Canaria of Spain and Montepaschi Siena of Italy qualified from the Rome tournament in December, Lietuvos Rytas of Lithuania and Unicaja of Spain from the L’Hospitalet tournament in early January and Hemofarm Vrsac qualified through its second place in Belgrade in February. As FMP won its own tournament, the regulations of the Euroleague say that two Wildcard teams will be invited for the main event in Berlin at the beginning of May. I took a look who might get one of these two spots for the biggest Junior Club Team event in Europe.

The third and last qualifying event for the Nike International Junior Tournament will be played in Belgrade from 13th to 15th February 2009. The official website of the tournament has no published the names of the teams that will be competing for the two remaining spots.
