European players workout update (29-5-2010)

May 29th, 2010 · 4 Comments

With the Adidas Eurocamp approaching and the Early Entry Withdrawal date only 2 weeks ahead, the NBA teams start to intensify their workouts for European players. We wanted to take a look at who is currently doing what in this domain.

Robin Benzing, who has finished his regular season already for a few weeks is currently preparing the Adidas Eurocamp with Svetislav Pesic in Berlin. We talked already about in a previous post. Marko Pesic, who is representing the German prospect told us today that they have not scheduled any NBA workout before the camp in Treviso despite having some requests from NBA teams.

We had NBA Teams that were inviting Robin for a workout but we decided at the beginning of the Draft process that we go for no workout before the Adidas Eurocamp in Treviso. It is possible that after the camp, depending on Robin’s performances, we will get concrete requests and accept them. But for the moment, we are ok with Treviso as only date on our schedule.

On the website of the Agency, Pesic published also a new workout video as well as an interview in German.

Another German in the Draft process is Tim Ohlbrecht from Telekom Baskets Bonn. After the surprising playoff loss of his team, the 1988 born Power Forward has the time to tour the States for different workouts. After having participated to the massive group workout in Minnesota on Wednesday, he continues his round through the US with a workout with the Houston Rockets this Saturday. Afterwards, he has invites for workouts with the Portland Trailblazers, Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks and the Orlando Magic. It is however not sure yet if he will attend all of these. Additionally, Ohlbrecht will not be present in Treviso for the Adidas Eurocamp as he stays in the United States for the workouts.

Ryan Richards got some press over the last days since he appeared a bit out of nowhere at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. He also attended the Minneapolis workout on Tuesday where he apparently suffered a minor injury. Right now, there is not a lot of news around additional workouts for him but he should normally be present in Treviso next weekend. Our friends at Hoopsfix try to create more buzz around the United Kingdom native and setup another highlight video of the athletic young big man.

Pablo Aguilar is currently also in the United States to do some workouts. according to the website of his club. The Forward from CB Granada has appointments with the Washington Wizards, Miami Heat, New Jersey Nets, Toronto Raptors, Portland Trailblazers and the Phoenix Suns.

Two other players that are currently in the United States for workouts and will come back for the Adidas Eurocamp in Treviso are the two French guards Thomas Heurtel and Edwin Jackson. However, we did not get their exact schedule yet and we will update it here once we have it.
