Douai Tournament 2008: first names announced

January 8th, 2008 · 2 Comments

As you know, the Douai International Junior Tournament is one of the big events to follow in European youth Basketball. And the organization team made already some names public that will be present this year.

But first of all, here are the date to remember: 25-29 June 2008 in Douai, France. It will normally be the 89-90-91 generation that is invited, but most of the countries will probably be present with their U18 (1990-91) teams to prepare the upcoming U18 European Championships of the summer. Four teams have already announced their participation: USA, France, Lithuania and Israel. They will probably be completed by Serbia, Argentina, Australia, Croatia, Turkey and Latvia.

The US team will probably be one of the strongest ever to have competed in Doaui. Besides the well known coach Linzy Divas, Paul Silas will also be a member of the US coaching staff this year. And the players that are announced to come to Douai for the United States are the following: Tyreke Evans (#6 08 class), Luke Babbit (#343 o8 class), BJ Mullens (#4 08 class), Lance Stephenson (09 class), Derrick Favors (09 class), JRue Holliday (#3 08 class) and Jerry Brown (09 class).

As every year, the announced roster may change but it looks already a lot stronger than last year’s team. And Coach Linzy told us already last year that his 2008 squad will be a lot better.
