Urspring goes USA (4th place) and more

January 1st, 2008 · No Comments

Finally, Urspring Academy finished the Arby’s Classic at the 4th place, their best ever result. The Germans lost their last game against the Columbia Eagles 64-46 on Monday evening. When you look at the stats, you can imagine that the accumulation of games in the last two weeks made the team from Ralph Junge earn a 4th spot. With a team shooting at 19 out 52, the fatigue was an important factor in this game.

Another German team that was playing abroad over the last days was the U19 selection of TV Langen who participated at the Interperformances Cup in London. This yearly event organized by the Barking Abbey Basketball Academy featured 6 teams this year: England U16, Bulgaria U16, Playoff Sarajevo, Barking Abbey Academy, Estudiantes Madrid and TV Langen.

In the Final game between Langen and Estudiantes Madrid, the Germans went ahead from the beginning and won the first quarter 24-9. The team was led by the tournament MVP Robin Benzing, who finished the final with 29pts as well as by the inside force of Thomas Armbrecht who had 26. The 2m05 center was also elected into the All-Tournament team.
