Living in America: Niels Giffey (UConn)
January 12th, 2011 · No Comments
One of the most interesting German prospects has made the step to play College Basketball this summer. After Elias Harris in 2009, the summer of 2010 saw Niels Giffey move from ALBA Berlin to UConn and have some interesting impact right from the start. We spoke with Giffey about his current situation and what his future will look like. To get an even better insight on the German forward, we also recommend this excellent interview (in German) that he gave recently to spox.com.
Rudy Gobert: I work hard on every practice

The French 1992 born Center prospect, who currently plays for Cholet Basket has come up recently with an excellent game in the Espoirs championship. He scored 35pts and grabbed 13rebs and our friends at Catch & Shoot came up with a quick interview that we translated into English for a global audience. In fact, Gobert can be considered as the next NBA potential out of the Cholet prospect factory.
NIJT l´Hospitalet 2011: the Guards
January 10th, 2011 · No Comments
We start our review of the 2011 edition of the Nike International Junior Tournament in l’Hospitalet traditionally with the guards. But before going into the details of the scouting, it has to be mentioned that the overall level of the tournament was not particularly high. The absence of some major Spanish teams like Unicaja Malaga or Caja Laboral Vitoria were certainly one of the factors. And on the other hand the number of potential future top stars with the participating teams was rather low (and some of them did not even play all the games). Additionally, some players that were on the rosters finally did not play because of injuries or non-qualification.
Under the Radar: Dmitry Kulagin

There aren’t probably many 1992 born players that average double-digit points this season in one of the better European Leagues. One player, that we particularly liked the times we have seen him play before is in that case. 10.3ppg, 2.0rpg, 2.0apg and 1.4spg in just 19.1 minutes on the court, these are the numbers that the Russian combo-guard Dmitry Kulagin is producing the PBL. Certainly, his team is not the best but the numbers intrigued me and I had to check some game tape (that is freely available on the website of the PBL by the way) and get a better idea how Kulagin is doing against grown men.
