European Prospects

In the second part of our Living in America series, we spoke with the Georgian guard Duda Sanadze who has arrived to San Diego this summer.

Why did you decide to play College Basketball?

I thought coming to play college basketball would help me develop as a player more then staying in Europe and I wanted to come for the experience also.

What do you expect as personal development over the next years? What do you think you can develop better by playing College Basketball compared to Europe?

I expect to get stronger and more physical. Also to improve my lateral speed and agility to be a better defender and how to create better shots for myself and teammates. I think I can develop those things playing college basketball rather then being in Europe.

So far, you have not played one game yet for San Diego. Why and what are your personal expectations concerning your playing time over the next years?

I’m not eligible this year because I played too many pro games and i was born in 92′ and I am a freshman so that’s why I am not playing and I am working hard in practice and individual workouts so I am not worried about playing time right now.

You are quite old for a freshman by being born in 1992. Do you hang out more with the more experienced guys of your team or the other freshmen?

I hangout with a lot of the guys but mostly sophomore John Sinis and Chris Anderson who is from California.

What are you plans concerning your major?

My plans concerning my major is to take business classes here and try to pursue a business degree.

Where do you see yourself in 4 years from now?

I want to have developed in to an overall player on the offensive and defensive side and want to be playing pro on a really good team.

You play together with three other Europeans, Dennis Kramer from Germany, Jito Kok from the Netherlands and John Sinis from Greece. Dennis comes from a US background while Jito and John have grown in Europe. Do you see a difference in their play because of that?

Somehow but not really; they both have adjusted to the game out here and they both still have their European type of game but it still fits well out here. Sinis and Kramer both have similar styles because they both shoot from the outside and post up.
