Easter Tournaments Review 2012

Next to the Albert Schweitzer Tournament that is currently running in Mannheim, there are several other events that have been organized over the last weekend.

The biggest event in terms of participants is the Osterturnier in Vienna. Thousands of player compete in different youth categories and this year, the boys competition has been dominated by the German teams. In fact, in the U13 category, the winners come from ratiopharm Ulm, the U16 category has been won by Nördlingen, the U18 category by Ludwigsburg and the U20 category by ALBA Berlin. Nördlingen has been lead by the German U16 National team player Joschka Ferner who dominated during the Final and has been considered as the best player of the tournament in his generation.

The Cholet Mondial Basket Tournament has been won by the U18 of Elan Chalon. The team that participated to the NIJT in Kaunas where they finished last had to play without two of their main player (David Michineau and Benjamin Meri) who are with the French U18 National Team in Mannheim. It was enough though to beat the locals of Cholet in the Final 67-62. Chalon was lead by Axel Bouteille who had 26 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals while Clint Capela finished with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks. For Cholet, Kadri Manroufou was the top scorer with 19 points and 10 boards. The third place was for BC Torrejon from Spain who beat KK Zitko 62-56 in the Bronze Medal game.

The Tournoi Mondial in Tourcoing has been won by an American Selection who managed to beat the Canarias Basketball Academy in the final 63-55.The US team has been lead by Andrew Harrison who was the top scorer of the event while Shane Hammink has been elected MVP of the tournament. The third place was for a Serbian selection that defeated Poland in the Bronze Medal game.

In Massagno, Crvena Zvezda won the U16 tournament by beating Fenix Zagreb in the Final 70-56. Vojislav Stojanovic has been elected MVP of the tournament. Eurobasket Roma won the Bronze Medal by beating Cantu 73-58 on Monday. In the U14 competition, Armani Jeans Milan won the tournament by beating the hosts 68-55. Alexander Martino from Massagno has been elected MVP of the U14 competition.

The Swiss U18 National Team won a tournament in Cherbourg by beating Paris in the Final. The All-Tournament team of this event is composed of Branislav Kostic (CH), Adrien Laurent (Paris), Leo Schittenhelm (CH), Daniel Andjelkovic (CH) and Thomas Hieu Courtois (Paris).

The team from Nantes won the U16 tournament in La Roche sur Yon by beating the German Urspring Academy 69-62 in the Final. The winners were lead by Clement Andre who had 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists while the German team had a big impact from their Slovakian big guy Norbert Janicek who finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

The Memorial Barila in Italy has been won by Cedevita Zagreb who beat Team Ohio in the Final 88-74. The Croatian team is lead by the U18 National Team player Dorian Jelenek.

    Cedevita was lead by 2 loaned, Bruno and Karlo Zganec from Fenix. Acording to KK Cedevita site, Bruno (2m tall PG with extra creativity) was named MVP by coaches, his brother Karlo had crazy numbers in last 2 games. 29 pts, 12 rbs, 11 stl in semis and 34 + 13 in finals
