These days, the Junior Tournament in Hospitalet saw two more teams qualify for the Nike International Junior Tournament in Berlin. In fact, Lietuvos Rytas and Unicaja Malaga advanced to the next round. However, the most incredible news is the game of Nikola Mirotic in a consolation game this Tuesday against FMP Belgrade.
The Center of Real Madrid finished the with an incredible 84 Ranking points!!! In detail, this means that Mirotic scored 35 points at 9/9 2FG, 1/1 3FG and 14/14 FT. Additionally, he took 23 rebounds, dished out 2 assists and stole 9 balls while he rejected 6 shots and got fouled 10 times. This means 84 Ranking points.
This looks totally incredible and is probably a statistical error as Mirotic is the only guy of his team to have collected steals and block shots. The fact that the game was played in a side-gym may also be an explication of the irregular stat-keeping. Additionally, ACB.com publishes a report in Spanish that says
La organización del torneo ha emitido una nota de prensa en la que Mirotic admite haber fallado “tres tiros de dos y un triple, además de perder un balón”, aunque también cree haber anotado un tiro libre más (15/15).
My Spanish is not great but I guess that this means that Mirotic missed 3 shots from 2 point range and 1 three point shot while turning over one ball. With an additional free-throw made according to that ACB report, his Ranking would be 5 points less at 79 which is still an incredible number. I hope to get clarification on this during the next days.
