Ricky Rubio is considered since his first appearance in the ACB League as one of the top prospects in Europe. Some people compare him already to Magic Johnson or I don’t know whom and consider him as the best European player ever. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to see Ricky in action again and here are some mixed thoughts about him.

Urspring Academy lost its semi final game against Briarcrest Saints 44-52. In the 8th game in 11 days, the batteries were empty and the shots were not falling (18/60). Even a 21-19 advantage at halftime was not enough to overcome the team around Leslie McDonald, a University of North Carolina recruit.
Now, the Germans will play their last game on Monday for the third place against Columbia (Georgia).

These days are All-Star game days in some European countries. And this counts especially for two regions that provide generally a lot of interesting NBA prospects. It has always been the goal of this blog to cover Young European Basketball players. Of course, all the different NBA aspirants get the most attention. But I tried to cover also other young players that are not that much hyped but are also doing their job on the basketball court. In order to present some more “unknown” young players, I start a series about Europeans playing in the NCAA and that may not be familiar to European readers. The players I chose are probably not big time NBA prospects but they are all worth to be talked about. And as the choice had also to be limited, this is not a selection on sportive criteria either but I tried to find players from different European countries. Maybe we will see some of these guys in the future in the different European leagues.
