We arrived this morning in the sunny Stockholm to cover for the first time the Nordic Championships. This tournament features the U18 and U16 Boys and Girls National Teams of the five Scandinavian countries: Iceland, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Sweden as a host. INSEP beats FMP to get the NIJT Title 2010

The Final game of this year’s Nike International Junior Tournament has been played this afternoon in the Palais Omnisports Paris-Barcy in front of approximately 1000 spectators. And it was the French hosts of INSEP that took the victory with them and kicked FMP from the throne. After the Serbians managed to beat the French team in Belgrade in February, this result can be considered as a nice revenge for the French selection that has never been invited to this event before.

Denmark is not really known for producing high quality basketball players on a regular stetch. Back in 2007, the nation was however close to qualify for the Eurobasket but since then, the National Team has gone downwards and was dropping into Division C last fall. FIBA Europe had a longer story on this case that you can find here. But to my big surprise, there was one young Danish player present in Paris for the Nike International Junior Tournament so that I thought about making a little piece on his story.

The third day of the 2010 edition of the Nike International Junior Tournament ended with some drama as it was undecided until the very last game who will be in the Final tomorrow. Even if neither Cajasol nor Ljubljana still had a chance to reach the Final, the result of their was highly important to the outcome in Group B.

Today started the Nike International Junior Tournament in Paris. It is the eight edition of this prestigious event that features the most talented U18 Club Teams in Europe. This year, the teams in Paris had to qualify through four different tournaments and the organization gave out 3 other Wildcards next to the defending champion FMP Belgrade. Here we go for the round-up of the first day.
