The 2009 FIBA U19 World Championship will very probably be played in New Zealand. According to the article of Bahrain Daily Gulf News, the Tall Black Nation is actually the only candidate for the organization as Bahrain has decided not to go through with a potential bid to host next year’s Under-19 World Basketball Championships.
Furthermore, the article informed that hosting the under-19 worlds reportedly costs $1.6M and that New Zealand are the only bidders for next year’s event, and will likely be named hosts when the winning bid is announced next month.
So be ready to enter Kiwi territory in 2009 if you want to follow this competition.
