Not only the Division A of the U18 European Championship will start this weekend, but also the Division B will have its first games on Friday in Debrecen, Hungary. To preview this tournament is quite more difficult because lots of nations are not known for producing elite prospects, but this year, the tournament looks particularly [...]

Today’s picks (live from Frankfurt/Langen/NBBL Top4)
May 31st, 2008 · 5 Comments
Here are the first impressions from the semi-finals day of the NBBL Top4 in Langen.
ALBA Berlin defeated Breitengüssbach in a relatively poor semi-final behind the nice scoring effort of Thomas Schoeps
The second semi-final has been won like last year by Team Urspring. The guys from Southern Germany started with an incredible 16-2 run which they [...]

Nike International Junior Tournament (Part 4)
May 8th, 2008 · No Comments
The last part of my International Junior Tournament report talks about the two finalists: FC Barcelona and FMP Zeleznik Belgrade. FMP has reached with this win the deserved European crown for Junior teams and it does not look like any other European club team is at their level right now.

I have spent this 1st of May in the Palalido in Milano, Italy to follow the final day of the 25th edition of the Victor Rho Tournament. Unfortunately, this year’s edition did not feature the same amount of talent than the years before because of the International Junior Tournament played in Madrid. For this reason, [...]

Albert Schweitzer Tournament 2008: the best of the rest
April 6th, 2008 · No Comments
After having analyzed in the detail the four best placed European nations of the tournament, I will come back to the other European teams, unfortunately only in a shorter fashion as I saw these teams only once in Mannheim. Also, I will limit myself really to the main players of these teams in order to [...]

Albert Schweitzer Tournament 2008: Spain
April 3rd, 2008 · No Comments
The Spanish team was present but of course without their absolute superstar of the 1990 generation Ricky Rubio. The team from coach Jota Cuspinera presented however a nice combination of talent and was probably one of the deepest teams present in Mannheim. We took a particular at one of the most talented players of the [...]

Albert Schweitzer Tournament 2008: Turkey
April 2nd, 2008 · 1 Comment
Turkey came to Mannheim with a baggage full of confidence and a mixture of very talented players. The main man to scout for me was of course 1992 born Enes Kanter who has dominated the U16 Türk Telekom Tournament a few weeks before. But it was not only him that came up with interesting performances.

Albert Schweitzer Tournament 2008: Greece
April 1st, 2008 · No Comments
The Greek team came to Mannheim without being considered as one of the favorites. The tallest player just being 2m02, it looked like the guys from coach Georgias Vlassopoulos would be punished inside. But it came a whole lot different. Not only that Greece won the tournament, the team featured some very interesting talent, at [...]
