<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The ACB started a few weeks ago and a interesting that could be registered is that the young players get more and more minutes. We followed through the excellent ACB360 today the game between Unicaja Malaga and Cajasol Sevilla where several interesting players got a lot of minutes on both sides.<span id="more-1891"></span><strong>Rafa Freire</strong> – G – 1m88 – 1992 – Unicaja Malaga</p>
<p>The Brazilian guard started right from the beginning with his aggressive play and had immediate impact on his team’s offense and defense. Out of his drives, he was at best when he stopped in mid-range to see the cutters coming from the weak side and giving them good passes for the layups. He executed his mainly right handed drives very well as he stopped in perfect triple-threat positions when he was not going to the hoop. When Freire attacked the basket though, he sometimes struggled to finish his attempts close to the hoop against the big guys but he reacted quickly enough to catch some of his own rebounds. Out of mid-range, he is more dangerous as he can also hit the jump shot around the key but he was not very successful with his floaters from the top.</p>
<p>His three point shot is not his first option as he bricked an open shot out of a Pick and Roll situation while he made however a nice catch and shoot three on a kick-out. He likes to make the shot fake and then attack the basket if the defender fell on it. On one play, he finished off a nice 1 dribble jump shot attacking the basket on the left but he also finished one play by doing several directions changes that opened him the way totally to the hole for the easy lay-up. Freire played nearly the whole time on the PG position but he was also used a bit on SG after he had hit some of his jumpers.</p>
<p>On the defensive end, Freire did an excellent job with his aggressive hands. He stole several balls and had a very nice steal on Satoransky on mid-court out of which he received a foul call in his favor after diving for the ball. He is not overly fast on lateral movements but with his athletic abilities, he did a good job against the Czech prospect. However, Freire got a bit less precise in his passing in the second half and was on the bench in the final minutes of the game. He needs to have his concentration level up high over the whole 40 minutes but as a 1992 born player, he has some time to work on this in order to improve. The Brazilian kid is certainly one of the most interesting players to watch this season in ACB and showed today that he has already the level to lead a Euroleague team as Starting Point Guard.</p>
<p><strong>Stats</strong>: 14pts (5/8 2FG – 1/2 3FG – 1/2 FTs), 3rebs, 6asts, 5stls, 3tos, 24eff</p>
<p><object width="410" height="400" ><param name="movie" value="http://acbtv.acb.com/swf/video_embed.swf?xml=http%3A%2F%2Facbtv.acb.com%2Fvideo%2Fxml%2F3151%2F0%3Fvideo_id%3D3151"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://acbtv.acb.com/swf/video_embed.swf?xml=http%3A%2F%2Facbtv.acb.com%2Fvideo%2Fxml%2F3151%2F0%3Fvideo_id%3D3151" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="410" height="400"></embed></object></p>
<p><strong>Tomas Satoransky</strong> – G – 1m99 – 1991 – Cajasol Sevilla</p>
<p>On the Cajasol team, Tomas Satoransky from the Czech Republic is the player to watch. With his excellent size, Satoransky is currently playing only as PG which gives him a nice size advantage over most of his opponents. In the game against Unicaja, he did not use this though and never tried to post up his defender but preferring to attack the basket from the top. Out of these drives, he often came up with difficult out of balance shots after a spin move. He floated some of them in but the moves did not look under full control. He was a bit sloppy in the beginning when bringing up the ball and turning one over too easily on a mid-court 1-1 situation. Satoransky also struggled on defense against the faster guards of Unicaja as he got stuck several times in screens or was too late laterally when trying to prevent them from driving.</p>
<p>On the positive side, Satoransky did an excellent job to get open looks for his team mates. He sees the court very well and is doing a good job launching the fast break with precise long passes for the team mates. Also in the set play, he came up with several good looks played with either hand. He had one particular beautiful back-door pass on a cutter coming through the middle. With his impressive wingspan for a guard, he has no trouble to put the ball around the defenders for the bounce pass. Because of his long arms, his three-point shot looks a bit mechanical but the Czech kid hit an open three on a kick out. He needs to work on his shot to get more fluid mechanics.</p>
<p><strong>Stats</strong>: 6pts (1/3 2FG – 1/2 3FG – 1/2 FT), 4rebs, 4asts, 3stls, 1to, 11eff</p>
<p><strong>Joan Sastre</strong> – F – 2m01 – 1991 – Cajasol Sevilla</p>
<p>The start of Joan Sastre was a bit more of a surprise but the 2m01 tall Small Forward showed immediately that he can play with a thunderous slam on the fast break. He grabbed the ball with one hand and hammered it out of full speed over the defender. This first play gave him the necessary confidence as he attacked the basket continuously but got put out of balance on all his drives turning the ball over or coming up with a strange lay-up. Sastre can put the ball on the floor with both hands and likes to attack over the baseline. Out of one of his drives where he lost the ball on a difficult shot, he grabbed his own rebound strong and got fouled on it to go to the FT line and make both.</p>
<p>His three-point shot looks good despite having his feet very close to each other and being once again easy to put out of balance. Defensively, Sastre was not a major factor doing his job correctly. He came back to the court in the money time after having sit nearly the whole second half but his coach took him out again after one offense. Sastre needs to bulk up a bit and work on his body strength in order to become a more stable player. He has the necessary speed to attack the basket effectively but he can not finish at high percentages against the bigger guys at the moment.</p>
<p><strong>Stats</strong>: 7pts (1/2 2FG – 1/2 3FG – 2/2 FT), 2reb, 1to, 6eff</p>
<p>On Thursday, <a href="http://www.acb.com/redaccion.php?id=71294" target="_blank">ACB.com also published</a> a long article presenting the most talented young players of this season.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Adidas Eurocamp in Treviso is done for 2010 and I must admit that the overall level was lower than during the previous editions. There was only a limited number of direct 2010 NBA Draft prospects and no overwhelming new additions. Today, we go over a first part of those players that stood out in our eyes. In a second part of we will talk about even more players and will conclude our review by the players of the two U20 National Teams that competed in the camp as well.</p>
<p><span id="more-1450"></span></p>
<p><strong>Robin Benzing</strong> – SF/PF – 2m09 – 1989 &#8211; Early Entry</p>
<p>The German forward came to Treviso as one of the few NBA Draft prospects with legit 1st round possibilities either this or next year and after the three days in Italy, Benzing did really show what an interesting potential he is and that he is now quite a sure lock for the NBA Draft. Despite still being really thin compared to NBA standards, Benzing showed however great speed for somebody who has been measured at 2m12 with shoes, which is nearly 7-feet in the United States. Together with his excellent shot release and great movements without the ball, the German forward has certainly improved his stock and has drawn some major interest by at least one 1st round team according to his agent.</p>
<p>Benzing struggled a bit in the beginning of the camp as he approached the games like normal Basketball games and adjusting to the NBA three-point line. He found his rhythm however by taking some long twos (Euro 3s in fact) or by putting the ball on the floor. By doing so, Benzing created a lot of contacts with his defenders that ended often with a foul call but also some situations that put him totally out of balance. This is one of the points on which he needs to work as it looks like the slightest contact can put him in trouble. Once he can hold his own against this physical play, he will be probably step to the FT line a lot; an area where he excels as he did not miss one free-throw over the whole camp going for 11 hits out of 11 attempts.</p>
<p>Offensively, the Ulm forward has a large area of moves that he can use to score. Next to the classical catch and shoot on the kick out, where he will develop NBA three-point range in the coming years for sure, he can also put the ball on the floor when he has his defender on him. His above average speed and ball handling skills help him to beat the defense with either hand and to conclude with the mid-range floater, the pull-up jumper or by creating for himself the open layup after a spin move for example. It is however very rare to see Benzing finish his drives with a dunk and his floater looks a bit flat which risks to be rejected against NBA defense.</p>
<p>Another typical move of the German player is attacking the basket immediately after the curl on the wing. He puts the ball on the floor directly and is rarely called for the Travelling violation in those cases. He can finish these plays by a jump shot or by some kind of running hook. Benzing looks to be as well a nice transition offense player as he runs the court well and is absolutely able to put the ball on the floor on the break and go from coast to coast. He showed in the end of the camp that he is a good passer as well as he connected with a number of good passes from the high post but also out of the drives.</p>
<p>On the downside, we must admit that Robin Benzing is currently a terrible rebounder. He got pushed out of his positioning by even smaller players and he was never really able to go strong for the rebound on both ends of the court. This is not a major trouble as he mainly played on the SF position but when being used more on PF, he must absolutely improve in this area. Additionally, he may need to become more aggressive on offense in NBA game situations but as he remains another year in Europe (and most likely with ratiopharm Ulm where he is still under contract without an NBA-out), he should be able to become the uncontested team leader and scorer on Beko Bundesliga level and improve in this area as well.</p>
<p><strong>Linos Chrysikopoulos</strong> – SF/PF – 2m03 – 1992</p>
<p>One of the new additions to the camp was the 1992 born Greek forward Linos Chrysikopoulos. After a somehow disappointing showing at the Albert Schweitzer Tournament a few months ago, the long wing player had an outstanding camp in my eyes and can certainly be considered as one of the next big prospects in Europe. On the first look, Chrysikopoulos may have done nothing exceptional; he averaged only 5.7ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.3apg over the three games of the camp; but what he showed during the days in Treviso was however impressive for such a young player.</p>
<p>Nicely athletic and with a good feeling for the rebound and the block shot, Chrysikopoulos had some interesting impact on the defensive end and stood out in this area in an environment not really favorable to it. You could see him often as the first guy back on defense despite battling for the offensive rebound and already being there to put the fast break in a difficult situation with his height.</p>
<p>On the offensive end, Chrysikopoulos needs to become more stable from three-point area as he can shot the brick followed by a nice swish from behind the (Euro)-arc. Being nicely explosive, he can use his good defensive reads to steal himself free in the back of the defense and finish on the powerful dunk. Putting the ball on the floor is another option for him and he can beat his defender of the dribble to either finish or go for the nice dish out of the full-speed drive. It will be interesting to see how Chrysikopoulos develops as he is the leader of a rather poor generation in Greece and will therefore need to develop also more scoring skills if he wants his Youth National Team to bring home some victories.</p>
<p><strong>Edwin Jackson</strong> – SG/PG – 1m88 – Early Entry – 1989</p>
<p>The French Guard started the camp extremely impressive with great scoring efforts, and improved decision making and still above average athletic abilities. After a season with the low-level team of Rouen, where he averaged more than 26 minutes per game in the highest French League, Jackson has shown major progress in his game and seems now ready for the next step. He will be the SG back-up for a Euroleague-level team next season and is also in the first selection for the World Championships in Turkey this summer.</p>
<p>The main offensive weapon of Jackson remains his jump shot which he is taking at a great height and with extreme confidence coming of the screen or on catch and shoot situations. He has deep range and has no problems to net the ball from behind the NBA three-point arc. When he puts the ball on the floor, he has learned how to go around the big guys waiting to take the charge and to finish with the typical long European steps.</p>
<p>Jackson has really improved in the general approach to the game as he has become a real leader on the floor taking over the responsibility in the hot moments of the game. Being very vocal, encouraging his team mates through out the game, he was one of the few players that showed real will to win the games on every moment on the court. Unfortunately, Jackson stepped back a bit as long as the camp went on in his performance. But he was definitely one of the players that gave us the most satisfaction in his development over the last 12 months.</p>
<p><strong>Thomas Heurtel</strong> – PG – 1m88 – Early Entry – 1989</p>
<p>The official Eurocamp MVP Thomas Heurtel did not totally convinced me throughout the three days in Treviso. Despite showing of course a great feel for the pass to the open man, Heurtel looked to me more like trying too much to go for the spectacular play or score instead of really playing the game. Of course, the setting of such a camp is not all about decision making, but this is what I am looking for with a PG. Additionally, Heurtel sometimes really over-dribbled the basketball instead of going immediately for the pass, especially on the fast break where he preferred to dribble up the ball instead of directly starting the break with a long pass.</p>
<p>But there were of course reasons why Heurtel got the MVP trophy. There is first of all his ability to beat nearly everyone of the dribble with either the big cross-over move or the quick first step. Out of the drives, he goes mostly for the dish that comes to him out of the help situations but he is not afraid to go as well for the difficult shot out of the movement. He passes really quickly when he is dribbling the ball but he needs sometimes a bit too much time to go for example for swing passes as he mostly uses a two-hand over-head pass for this kind of play.</p>
<p>Heurtel can hit the shot from nearly everywhere on the court but remains however streaky from behind the arc. He takes a lot of difficult attempts which does of course hurt his shooting percentages. This is however not the first question mark with him as he mainly needs to improve in his decision making. He is up to another season on loan to get a lot of minutes and work on this. We had an <a href="http://www.europeanprospects.com/1989-born/guard-1989-born/thomas-heurtel/did-thomas-heurtel-really-progress/" target="_blank">article on his specific case</a> a few weeks ago which I highly recommend to read as it includes the thoughts of two of his coaches.</p>
<p><strong>Tomas Satoransky</strong> – PG/SG – 1m99 – 1991</p>
<p>After taking over the 2009 camp by storm, there were a lot of high hopes on Tomas Satoransky this year. After a first season in the ACB earning about 7 minutes per game, Satoransky was expected to have improved. Playing the whole camp as PG, it seems like he is currently making the transition from being a swing man to a full-time PG. At the first look, this transition is far from being done as Satoransky did not really show anything really impressive over the three days in Treviso.</p>
<p>First of all, the Czech player has gained about 4 kilos of muscle over the year and even improved his numbers in vertical free jump compared to the last camp. He is slowly growing into his body as he remains still a very young player being born in 1991. With his re-positioning to the PG spot, he creates less on the offensive end for himself and is more occupied by organizing the offense than by slashing to the basket as he did last summer. Here comes the question mark if this is a good idea as he looked more intriguing when playing an off-guard role. Of course, with his excellent feel for the game and good court-vision, Satoransky may play the PG role but he looked however a bit out of position to us.</p>
<p>As you see, we do not really write a lot about what he actually did on the court in Treviso but this is the result of Satoransky showing barely any positive offensive plays that we are thinking are worth to mention compared to what we already knew of him. With his great athletic abilities and first step, he excels when attacking the basket and is able to convert all kind of attempts when attacking the rim with both hands. His shot remains not very consistent, especially from behind the three-point line. It will be interesting to see how his development will move on next season and what will be his future position.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This weekend is played the highly regarded Spanish Copa del Rey regrouping the top teams of the ACB League in a direct elimination setting in order to win the Cup of the King of Spain. This event is seen as one of the most important events in Spanish basketball and winning a Copa is a highlight in a Basketball career. The number of immediate NBA prospects was limited though this year but there were several players on the line that can be considered as potential future top stars in European Basketball.</p>
<p><span id="more-804"></span></p>
<p>The first day saw the opposition between Power Elec Valencia and Asefa Estudiantes. For the team from the capital of Spain, the Uruguay born and Italian passport-holder <strong>Jayson Granger</strong> (1m85 – PG – 1989) showed a nice game in his typical athletic and powerful style. He finished with 7pts and 4asts but he could not help his team advance to the next round.</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="410" height="400" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="src" value="http://acbtv.acb.com/swf/video_embed.swf?xml=http%3A%2F%2Facbtv.acb.com%2Fvideo%2Fxml%2F2564%2F0%3Fvideo_id%3D2564" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="410" height="400" src="http://acbtv.acb.com/swf/video_embed.swf?xml=http%3A%2F%2Facbtv.acb.com%2Fvideo%2Fxml%2F2564%2F0%3Fvideo_id%3D2564" wmode="transparent"></embed></object></p>
<p>The second game of the day was not very interesting when it comes to pure NBA Draft 2010 coverage. Ricky Rubio has been drafted last year and the top prospect from Cajasol Sevilla is the 1991 born Czech PG <strong>Tomas Satoransky</strong>. The 1m99 tall player did a nice job defensively on Rubio and managed to go to the line once in the game where he netted one free-throw. But his impact on the game was (still) rather limited.</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="410" height="400" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="src" value="http://acbtv.acb.com/swf/video_embed.swf?xml=http%3A%2F%2Facbtv.acb.com%2Fvideo%2Fxml%2F2565%2F0%3Fvideo_id%3D2565" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="410" height="400" src="http://acbtv.acb.com/swf/video_embed.swf?xml=http%3A%2F%2Facbtv.acb.com%2Fvideo%2Fxml%2F2565%2F0%3Fvideo_id%3D2565" wmode="transparent"></embed></object></p>
<p>The first game of Friday action was not interesting for me, so I can not tell you anything about as I did not follow it at all.</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="410" height="400" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="src" value="http://acbtv.acb.com/swf/video_embed.swf?xml=http%3A%2F%2Facbtv.acb.com%2Fvideo%2Fxml%2F2575%2F0%3Fvideo_id%3D2575" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="410" height="400" src="http://acbtv.acb.com/swf/video_embed.swf?xml=http%3A%2F%2Facbtv.acb.com%2Fvideo%2Fxml%2F2575%2F0%3Fvideo_id%3D2575" wmode="transparent"></embed></object></p>
<p>However, the last game of the quarter-final round was a real nice one as DKV Joventut Badalona is not afraid to give big time minutes to even their youngest players. They could not overcome the talent loaded Real Madrid squad but it was very interesting to see young prospects like David Jelinek or <strong>Pere Tomas</strong> in action. The 1989 born Tomas started the game very well with a nice offensive rebound that he finished immediately by going upwards to take the short jump shot despite strong defense on him. He had another nice offensive play in the first minutes as he used his good first step to attack the basket over the baseline with his left hand and finish the play with a powerful two handed dunk. He had 2 fouls early so that he had to go back to the bench afterwards. When he came back in the game, he continued to attack the basket consistently with going either on his left or right hand. He finished it twice on finger rolls, once with his right and once with his left hand. Both moves looked really well as the finishes were quite tough especially the left handed one. Tomas finished the game with 8pts and 2rebs.</p>
<p><strong>David Jelinek</strong> had probably his best game so far for this season as the Czech 1990 born guard had 8pts 2rebs in just 13 minutes of action. After a first appearance in the beginning of the game where he did nothing special, Jelinek was the energizer that helped Joventut come back into the game in the second half. He started though with some difficult shots like a short three pointer out of the dribble where he also was a bit too much in a fade away style or a missed jump shot out of transition where he could have played the pass for one of his team mates being in a better position. But he was so self-confident, and he also got the confidence of the coach who did not take him out after those plays,  that he continued to be very aggressive on the offensive end. He likes to attack the basket with his right hand where he is quite explosive on his first step. Sometimes he struggled to recognize the defensive help quick enough so that his passes lacked a bit of precision. He excels though in running the fast break where he literally storms up and down the court. His great speed helps to beat anyone of the dribble and his fundamentals allow him to finish even very difficult moves attacking the rim. In one play, he got the ball in transition and finished the play with two extra-long direction changing steps around the defender for an underhand layup with the foul. Following that move, he immediately hit a big three-pointer to cut the lead back to ten points after two or three dribbles. Afterwards, Jelinek had another very impressive move where he grabbed the defensive rebound and made a coast-to-coast that he finished with a nice layup. The 19-yr old player showed why he is considered as one of the most talented players of the continent and he will certainly increase his minutes on the court through out the season.</p>
<p><object width="410" height="400" ><param name="movie" value="http://acbtv.acb.com/swf/video_embed.swf?xml=http%3A%2F%2Facbtv.acb.com%2Fvideo%2Fxml%2F2577%2F0%3Fvideo_id%3D2577"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://acbtv.acb.com/swf/video_embed.swf?xml=http%3A%2F%2Facbtv.acb.com%2Fvideo%2Fxml%2F2577%2F0%3Fvideo_id%3D2577" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="410" height="400"></embed></object></p>
<p><strong>Josep Franch</strong> is holding a role as third PG on the team and he had a correct game. The 1991 born and 1m98 tall player shows good speed combined with excellent footwork and of course great size for a back court player. He tried to go for several scores but he could only connect for one basket on a left handed finish of a drive. His jump shot does not look super stable at the moment, he took some difficult takes out of the dribble though. On his drives, he looked sometimes a bit erratic losing the control of what he wanted to do. But being the youngest player on the court, he has the time to learn from this and gain experience.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>After having discussed the <a href="http://www.europeanprospects.com/1987-born/guard-1987-born/nando-de-colo/reebok-eurocamp-the-nba-draft-prospects/" target="_blank">NBA prospects in Treviso</a>, I take a closer look at the other players present in Treviso that may be NBA candidates in the next years or stay in Europe. </p>
<p> <span id="more-485"></span></p>
<p>Let’s start this report with <strong>Pablo Aguilar</strong>, not only because he was one of the best players in the tournament but because he is the first one in the alphabetical order. After having seen him several times in the ACB this season, I was however quite surprised how well he did in this setting, being more of a hard working player. First of all, you recognize a very interesting body structure with a nice wingspan (216cm versus 203cm size) and a large shoulders. </p>
<p>The main offensive weapon of Aguilar is his great jump shot which he can hit from around the key pretty well. His baseline shot looks very easy and he has range up to the NBA three point line. He has also a good presence in the rebound and is not afraid to dribble out and go coast to coast. He recognizes the game very well and knows how to get his team mates open with pass fakes for example. He knows what he does on court and looks like playing always under control. His season in Granada helped him to develop into a very interesting prospect. He should stay one more year with his current team in order to gain even more playing time on the ACB level before he can start to be a contributor in the Euroleague</p>
<p>One of the players that I really wanted to see was the Hungarian G/F <strong>Adam Hanga</strong>. Hanga showed an interesting combination of speed, athletic abilities and basketball skills. Being pretty aggressive on the court, Hanga can handle the ball pretty well and likes to drive to the basket. During stretches, he took the ball to play PG for his team which he did quite well. His great speed helps him to beat shorter players on the drive where he can go for the dunk over the defense or finish for example with a floater, also over taller players.</p>
<p>The main problem is however his jump shot which needs some development. His relatively slow mechanics and a shooting setup with the ball in front of his face don’t give him the possibility right now to arm his shot against aggressive defenders. It will be interesting to see what is Hanga up to next year, if he stays in Hungary or not. First of all, he will try to give some good impressions during the U20 European Championship B Division in Skopje this summer. </p>
<p>The only Lithuanian player in the camp was <strong>Mindaugas Kuzminskas</strong> from Siauliai. The athletic wing player showed some interesting aspects, good fakes and a nice range, when he is open. He is working well in the offensive rebound despite not being that big or tall. His jumping abilities help him in that area though and his correct speed and ball handling are reason why his drive is one of his best options at the moment.</p>
<p><strong>Carl Ona Embo</strong> showed some nice flashes of his offensive scoring talent. Being not that tall with only 1m83, Ona Embo needs to become a better play maker if he wants to have role going further than the scoring guard. He can hit the three pointer in series, also out of the dribble but he struggles in his passing technique as you could see him several times going for too high or too low dishes out of his drives. </p>
<p> <a href="http://clkde.tradedoubler.com/click?p=59262&#038;a=1626794&#038;g=17698580" target="_blank">Get the best REEBOK gear here</a></p>

document.write('');
</script></p>
<p><strong>Nikos Pappas</strong> was definitely not in his best days in Treviso. You could not see any improvement in his most to be improved parts of the game, athleticism and ball handling under pressure. However, you still have here a player with a terrific understanding of the game. He can drive pretty well despite looking very slow. Out of these penetrations, he can score on the layup correctly but he is more active in creating spaces for his team mates or drawing fouls to go to the line. </p>
<p>Another player that drew a lot of attention was the Kazakh PF/C <strong>Anton Ponomarev</strong>. The probably best player ever coming from Astana struggled a bit in the beginning to adjust his game to a level that he has never played against. Ponomarev showed a very good jump shot for a guy of his size (2m09) and also displayed an interesting but still to be developed back to the basket game. His court vision and understanding is overdeveloped and you could see him check around what the current game situation is. </p>
<p>His jump shot is at the moment his strongest asset, nailing with high accuracy around the key but also a potential good three point threat. He is very aggressive on the court, fights a lot and is on every hot situation to dive for the ball or to tip the ball away. With his move to Hyères-Toulon where he signed a four year contract, he should develop pretty well over the next years as the level of competition he faces will be a lot higher than in his current situation.</p>
<p><strong>Tomas Satoransky</strong> was clearly one of the most talented players in the whole camp. The Czech forward, that can also play guard and even Point Guard, showed an incredible feel for the game, great athletic abilities and an above average scoring will. Even if his shot is a bit unstable which is probably the result of an underdeveloped body at the moment, Satoransky can hit the ball from all around the court when he is open. When he gets defended harder, his shooting mechanics are not that great anymore and his shot looks more like throwing the ball to the rim.</p>
<p>However, Satoransky was really impressive when driving to the basket as he could finish extremely well when being close to the basket. He showed great jumping abilities and hammered down one of the best dunks of the three days with a huge put back against the whole defense. Satoransky ran the show for the team he played and his big time talent was one of the major discussion points during the camp. It is not a big surprise that Cajasol Sevilla signed him according to several reports and he is supposed to make an immediate impact in the ACB right from next year.</p>
<p> <a href="http://clkde.tradedoubler.com/click?p=59262&#038;a=1626794&#038;g=17698580" target="_blank">Get the best REEBOK gear here</a></p>

document.write('');
</script></p>
<p><strong>Alexey Shved</strong> is already a regular participant to the Reebok Eurocamp, but he did not show that much of a development since last year. However, his upper body looked a lot stronger. He is a great scorer when his shot is falling and his jump shot looks so easy and nice from any distance. Shved should finally get playing time with CSKA next season and after that, it will be interesting to see what level he can reach. He seems to recognize now better when to stop shooting and switching in his role to be a PG, a problem that was present the previous years. He is still one of the most interesting players in Europe right now. </p>
<p>To finish the report, let’s take a look at the Russian Center <strong>Artem Zabelin</strong>. He gained more than 10kg this season which was totally lost for him because of a severe injury. In general, Zabelin did not look like he has lost anything in his basketball talent, his jump shots look impressive for a player of his size and in defense, he excels in shot blocking. On the other hand, he is not that explosive as a player and he did not really showed polished move in the low post.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Here we go for quick recap of the action I was able to catch from the Reebok Eurocamp in Treviso so far. A camp that has representatives from all the 30 NBA teams in attendance in addition to a long list of Agents and representatives from European teams as well.</p>
<p> <span id="more-454"></span>
<p>This report has been written Sunday at noon but is online posted right now due to Internet connection problems. More on the Reebok Eurocamp will follow later this week.</p>
<ul>
<li>The first game of the camp has been played on Saturday morning where I only arrived so I could not watch it. However, players that impressed were <strong>Stefan Markovic</strong> who run the PG job very well. <strong>Jaka Klobucar</strong> did what I like him for apparently. That means, a good shot from behind the arc and his typical left handed passes out of his wrist. <strong>Alexey Shved</strong> also showed again all his talent. </li>
<li>In the 2nd game of the camp, <strong>Boban Marjanovic</strong> finished with an impressive 26 evaluation. The Serbian giant, one of the only Serbians allowed to play here, showed his incredible large game and scored with his typical post up move, some kind of jump hook. He did a good job from the free-throw line and was a big force in the defensive rebound. On the other side, <strong>Rodrigue Beaubois</strong> showed his nice combination of athleticism and skills but his shot was not falling and he got a little injury that took him out of the morning game of Day 2. <strong>Pablo Aguilar</strong> showed a good game, something he confirmed this morning. The 1989 born forward has an all-in-control type of play, going for both SF and PF positions. His range goes out to the NBA three point line, but despite not hitting that many shots you could see that he will improve in that area in the next years. The Czech youngster <strong>Tomas Satoransky</strong> impressed lots of people in the attendance with his great feel for the game and the possibility to see him run the PG in the next years. </li>
<li><strong>Nando de Colo</strong> showed his great court vision on Day 1 with a multitude of high light passes. Next to all these plays, there was one play that impressed me really while seeing him play. In fact, after a lazy behind the back pass by himself, he came back into the game immediately and stole the ball on midcourt to dish an easy assist for one of his team mates. This day was also a good opportunity to get a first impression of the Kazakh player <strong>Anton Ponomarev</strong> who definitely lacks of high-quality basketball experience and ball handling skills, but showed great will in the rebound and good scoring touch. The French guard <strong>Abdoulaye Mbaye</strong> showed his scoring talent on the 2-guard position but having a player like de Colo in his team, he had never to handle the ball on the 1 so that his potential on the PG could not be determined. </li>
<li>On the downside of Day 1 were the disappointing play of guys like <strong>Vladimir Dasic</strong>, who still seems to have some concentration problems, <strong>Nikos Pappas</strong>, who struggles to bring up the ball against aggressive defense despite a great understanding in the half court offense or <strong>Roger Aboubakar Zaki</strong> who insists on shooting from behind the arc with a mediocre result. </li>

<li>But let&#8217;s start with the surprise of the day. Greek Media outlets announce the possibility of a transfer of <strong>Nikos Pappas</strong> to Spain. According to these rumors, his agents paid his buyout at Panellinios to make him a free-agent on the market. And these same sources report that the Spanish ACB team of Bilbao wants to sign him. We will keep you updated about this story. (found on <a rel="nofollow" href="http://thehoop.blogspot.com/2008/08/pappas-heading-to-bilbao.html" target="_blank">TheHoop</a>)</li>
<li>Before coming to the important stuff, just check out <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.basketnews.lt/news-16001-po-pergales-patycios-varzovams-ir-mustynes-video.html" target="_blank">this video clip</a> of the Georgian and Israeli U20 players after the game on Sunday where Israel managed to beat Georgia and advance to the next round.</li>
<li>Greece is the 2008 U18 European Champion after they beat Lithuania in a tight final 57-50. Another big game by <strong>Kostas Sloukas</strong> helped them to win over Lithuania. Despite having lost their versatile forward Vladimir Jankovic with a broken foot, the team stepped up and improved during the whole tournament. Belgium and Estonia will move to division B.</li>
<li>The All-Tournament team of the U18 Division A is the following:<br />
PG-<strong>Kostas Sloukas</strong><br />
SG-<strong>Nikos Pappas</strong><br />
SF-<strong>Mario Delas</strong><br />
PF-<strong>Donatas Motiejunas</strong> (MVP)<br />
C-<strong>Enes Kanter</strong></li>
<li>Slovenia hammered everybody in Division B of the U18 European Championships and will promote together with the Czech Republic to Division. The final has been won by Slovenia 68-60 against the Czechs.</li>
<li>The All-Tournament team of the U18 Division B is the following:<br />
PG-<strong>Mirza Sarajlija</strong><br />
SG-<strong>Tomas Satoransky</strong><br />
SF-<strong>Marko Vranjkovic</strong><br />
PF-<strong>Jakub Wojciechowsky</strong><br />
C-<strong>Jan Vesely</strong></li>
<li>In the U20 European Championship of Division A, 4 teams go with 2 wins and zero losses to the Qualifying round which starts tomorrow. Lithuania, Italy, France and a surprising Montenegro team have now good possibilities to advance to the semis. The story about Montenegro is of course that the team has only lost 1 official game in its history so far, a surprising loss against Austria in last year&#8217;s B Division campaign. Greece, Georgia, Bulgaria and Slovenia will fight for the two spots to remain in Division A though.</li>
